“Sunset cruise with snacks, 2 hours” tells you almost nothing about how the evening is built. Two hours is not two hours of sunset. Snacks are not dinner – one operator says so in writing. And the detail that matters if you want access to the sundeck is not the price. It is what time you join the queue.

Why that matters more here than on other boats is written into the listing: access to the sundeck is limited to the first 52 people – the number of seats the vessel’s safety certificate allows, set by a certified body, not by the crew. Once that limit is reached, you cannot count on a place on the sundeck.
Read that as a working instruction, not a complaint. Allow time to find the ticket office and join the boarding queue, following the arrival instructions for your departure. Early arrival does not guarantee a sundeck seat.
Two hours, and where they go

One boarding rule is worth knowing before you choose. The golden-hour cruise asks you to arrive at least 10 minutes before departure. It leaves strictly on time and will not wait; a late arrival or missed departure may be treated as a no-show.
What to take, whatever you book
Two precautions matter whatever sunset format you choose.
Bring something warm. Blue Cruises asks guests to bring warm clothes; the golden-hour cruise also recommends a jacket or sweater. An evening that was 30 degrees on the street is a different temperature moving over open water at dusk.
Do not book a sunset for the sunset alone. One sailing operator states it outright: depending on the weather that day, views of the sun going down cannot be guaranteed. The city from the water is the other reason to go – the bridge, the Belém waterfront and the tiled facades. The sun is the bonus.
When a different boat is the better evening
If you want a smaller group, compare the sailing boats and catamarans: WaterScenery lists sailing boats for 10–12 people or sailing catamarans for 12–14, allocated according to availability. If you want the evening loud rather than calm, the sunset party boat with DJ and open bar costs €19 for 90 minutes, plus a €1.30 boarding tax per passenger at check-in. It excludes under-18s, pregnant women, people with mobility impairments and wheelchair users. Travelling with children, the sundeck maths changes completely – two hours is a long time indoors, and the age rules and on-board equipment come first.
